Thanks to another secret blogger I’ve been reunited with my blog once more! Meg has a blog/diary that nobody in her real life reads.
Currently I have 8 more months of nursing school and tons of work to do! Instead I’m watching Young Victoria and loom knitting some hats for gifts. And of course now I’m writing here. But, now it’s time to go to bed.

Here is my 3 year old!!!! She is amazing.

Today has seen a break in the insane and hot weather. And it magically feels like FALL and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ve been looking at Halloween decorations all day and costume/decorating ideas. Martha Stewart’s blog had some great pumpkins that you drill holes into and then fill the pumpkin with Christmas lights, which was gorgeous. I’d link it but it wasn’t there just now when I was looking for it, but here is a tiny pic of it : I have found so many cool things in blogland recently I’m tickled, dunno why I was gone so long other than school, my daughter, my husband, my house. Its been nearly a year since I’ve been here. I’m ashamned. I’ve been going to school though. And raising my daughter whom I love more than air. I’ve got 11 more months of school ( eek!). We are currently in Pharmacology and I’ve got an A. I hardly think I will be able to maintain is but for now its very nice to be able to say so. And my daughter!!! She is growing and talking and is the reason I was born. For example :

I’ve been doing some sewing between tests. I’ve made stethoscope covers and leg warmers. nothing too crazy or time-consuming. However, one of the lovely ladies whose blog I follow over at KUKYIDEAS.com ( hyperlink doesn’t want to work, my apologies) has joined in a sew along that looks almost to good to pass up. It requires me to get a book…… but other than having no money to spend on a sewing book, I think I’m going to join. Which means….. more posts from me!!! So hopefully I will see you more often in the near future.

So the time is quickly approaching. My daughter’s 2nd birthday is almost here! And I can’t wait. I’ve started hand making decorations, thank goodness so many of t he blogs I read have helpful decorating ideas because I do NOT have money to splurge on decorations this year. As it is my daughter is only receiving handmade items from her dear old mom and dad. However, I will have some cute stuff to show and share. I’d show you now, but I think the birthday girl should get it before the rest of the world. But here’s a hint : Babalisme helped me!! So see you in a few days with a bunch of pics!! Back to making decorations for me!

Halloween!!!!

This year for Halloween on top of being incredibly broke I was also incredibly busy. So Cali wore this:

A store bought pair of wings and tutu ( why a store bought tutu when I love making them so much?? They came as a set )

And this: Her Christmas dress, when it got too cold to wear just tights.

I didn’t really dress up. Cali went on a quick Trick or Treat around the cul-de-sac before she could freeze too much. And then she spent the night greeting all the other kids at the door saying what sounded like ” Bubble Tree” as trick or treat. She was very excited and very into the whole thing. She was sweet and only managed to steal 1 tiny SweetTart without us noticing.

The pumpkin that Cali picked and painted in the last post was transformed.

Apparently all of my pics are going to be all over this post and not where I would like them so please forgive me.

I haven’t carved a pumpkin in forever so I was pretty happy with how it turned out. We toasted the pumpkin seeds and Cali loved munching on them. I was surprised, also reluctant to share lol.

There have been so many things going on that I have to confess that Cali ( and I ) have been watching too much TV. We use to watch 1 hour of Sesame Street a day and that was it. And then I needed some study time so it got bumped to 2, and then I started turning it on in the morning, and now it stays on all day! I feel like a huge failure on the Limiting TV front. I hope to get back to the swing ( swing of hitting the OFF button) TODAY. I am making my Halloween resolution NOW lol. Less TV. Poor Kid, she wont know what hit her.

I’d like a pause button very much. I need an additional 3 hours of sleep a night. A lot has been going on, but most of it has been good. I’ll start about 4 weeks ago and work my way forward.

My little baby LOVES animals. I know this is in no way unique to her, but as a treat, we went to a farm a few weekends ago. Theres a local farm named Snead’s Farm and in addition to tours they also have a really cool direct from the farm produce plan that I would love to participate in sometime soon. Cali loved seeing the calves, horses, dogs, hayride you name it. She picked her own pumpkin and painted it! It was nice, but I was more than ready to go at the 2 hour mark.

My husband and my brother have come back from California. They really enjoyed their shorter than expected stay. They underestimated how difficult it would be for 2 guys without college degrees or a huge bank account to live out in Northern California. I knew it would be difficult but I didn’t want to be the person blamed for standing in the way of their dreams. So I was just as helpful as I could be.

I’m about to start my last week of clinicals, then a few mandatory study days, and then we take our certification test. And I’m already looking at when I can start school again. But since my husband would like to move in the next 6 months theres no way I can start an RN program where I am. So we shall see.

We’ve also been moving our house around to hopefully give us more living space. No pics of this disgraceful mess as of yet. And also spending some family time together.

Don’t you love the face she’s making? Yeah, she doesnt look like that really. And now, a Halloween post.

Better, Much Better

I’ve now started my 2nd week of class, and though it’s not as if class is getting any easier I’m adjusting. My wonderful incredible ridiculous child spends 4 nights a week with my parents and she loves it, as do they. In a perfect world I think I would spend my life having lots of babies, hire an Alice ( ala The Brady Bunch) and spend my life homeschooling and nurturing my children’s creativity, humor, self- esteem, and confidence. To make sure that they become happy, healthy, well adjusted adults, and not drains on society.

But that is in MY perfect world, in this one I have my wonderful little girl and….. I need to get my ass to work.

Tonight I need to make a vegan cake w/icing so the other girls and I can “margarine” our teacher up ( get it? get it? she’s vegan and doesn’t eat butter? ). Make another cake , one of the others girls’ birthday is tomorrow, do homework, finish this post, and get my ass to bed. We will see how much of that I get accomplished. Wish me luck!

Calamity Jane

Why is this post entitled Calamity Jane? Who knows. It was better than, oh woe is me. Which is how I feel right now. I need some hot chocolate and a big hug right now.

Moving on, I have finished my first week of classes. Our class started with 8 people and we are down to 5 as of tonight. And those ladies that have flunked out already do NOT get their money back. I feel really bad for the latest one because she was genuinely trying. Our class is 4 hours long, then I spend almost that same amount of time studying and doing homework. We are tested for a grade every day. This is a no joke class.

I’ve been keeping sane by mentally planning my daughter’s birthday party that isn’t for 2 more months. With my husband being out of the picture I get free reign to do whatever I want without hearing the negative static. SO!!! We’re having a ballerina party!

Cali watched an episode of Chloe’s Closet where they dress up as ballerinas. She LOVES the ” Dancing Girls” and I am all for having a ballerina party!

Since I have 0 ability to draw/sketch/paint/color/etc., I’ve asked N from Babalisme to design invitations and paper dolls!!! She is the creator of the WONDERFUL ADORABLE Fairy Tale Paper dolls I posted about awhile ago. Her art is incredibly affordable, I would pay her double what she charges if I had the money!

So Kuky is planning her children’s birthday party and asking for suggestions. And I’m doing the same thing! Most of the little girls coming are going to be 2-4 so I’m not sure that we will really be doing any crafting. But if you have an idea that you think little girls can handle let me know! But especially any decorating ideas!!! I am all ears ladies! So far all I know is that everyone is wearing a tutu and getting little magnet/paper dolls as party favors. It is currently about 3 hours after my bedtime so goodnight and don’t be shy leave an idea Kuky got GREAT ideas right away for her ( cooler themed) pirate party.

School

As if my posts weren’t sporadic enough I recently ( Tuesday) decided to go to school. And I start MONDAY! I’m going to be a nurses aide til Cali gets a little older and I can go to real nursing school. I’ve been thinking about it for awhile, and when I finally decided they said we have a class starting NOW. So I jumped right in. I’m very exciting and feeling that at 28 maybe I’m going to be an adult after all. And that no matter what life is planning on throwing at me I will be able to support my daughter and myself.
And while I’m very excited about my step forward in life, the rest of my life.. is not so bright. Goodnight
